Supporting Local
At UNCW Dining Sustainability, we prioritize incorporating the fresh, locally sourced food into our facilities.
By partnering with a diverse network of local farmers and producers, we are able to bring seasonal ingredients to our menus at their peak flavor and nutritional value. Eating local means our food spends less time in transit and more time on your plate, preserving vital nutrients that are often lost during long-distance shipping. Supporting local agriculture also reduces our carbon footprint, promotes environmentally responsible farming practices, and helps keep dollars within our regional economy.
Through these partnerships, we're not only serving fresher, healthier meals, we're building a more sustainable and resilient food system for our campus and beyond.
